Sunburst charts are particularly effective for presenting hierarchical data structures similar to tree maps. A sunburst chart is depicted radially, which makes the chart especially aesthetic and excellent for presentations.

The example below shows a hiring funnel: the base node depicts applicants, followed by qualified applicants, phone screens, in-person interviews, and then hires. This visualization makes it easy and intuitive to find which quarter had the most hires, or when the most unqualified applicants apply.
This visualization requires one dimension and one measure, and while it accepts more dimensions, we recommend five or fewer.
